Action Mental Health (AMH) came to us wanting printed materials that would help young people understand their feelings, make more positive choices, and cope with anxiety. The goal was to create two learning booklets:
- “Better Together”, aimed at primary school–aged children, focuses on awareness of actions, decision-making, empathy and kindness.
- “Our Generation” is intended for teenagers, to raise awareness around anxiety and to introduce practical coping methods.
We handled both design and print for the two booklets. Key elements of our work included:
- Audience-centred layout & tone: For Better Together, we used bright colours, playful illustrations, large readable text and friendly imagery to appeal to younger children; for Our Generation, we adopted a more mature, thoughtful visual style, balancing sensitivity and hope.
- Content clarity: We ensured that language was age-appropriate, simple, and direct. Concepts were explained with examples, and visuals were used to reinforce messages around emotions, actions, decisions, and coping strategies.
- Educational structure: Each booklet is designed to be interactive, where possible, encouraging reflection, conversations, and self-awareness. Activities or prompts support engagement.
- Print production: High-quality paper stock, full-colour printing, and careful finishing ensure the booklets are durable and inviting to hold and use.
The Impact
The resulting booklets help teachers, parents and young people by providing accessible, supportive resources. Better Together gives primary-school children simple tools to notice their feelings and understand how their actions matter. Our Generation supports teenagers in recognising anxiety, feeling less alone, and learning methods to manage it in healthy ways.
These projects illustrate how careful design and thoughtful printing can make a difference in mental health education. By combining empathy, visual clarity, and approachable presentation, these booklets have become valuable tools in AMH’s toolkit to educate, support and empower young people across different age groups.
