“I feel privileged to have just seen that. It was one of the greatest races I have ever witnessed.” Murray Walker discussing Colin Turkington live on ITV4.
A local hero, we couldn’t be more excited to be working with Colin Turkington. The reigning BTCC Champion from Portadown won the championship for the 4th time in 2019. Here at Cornell, we love nothing more than partnering with local brands and businesses – and with a few car fanatics in our studio, we were really excited to get started.
Colin works as part of a strong team, crediting those around him for helping him win his many titles and the key to his successes – 51 BTCC wins, not to mention 141 BTCC podiums! Working as a team is crucial to our work, each person brings something unique to the table. We’re proud to have brought our teams together and have created something really special.
Colin first debuted at the BTCC in 2002, with his first win coming in 2009; to this day he remains the only Ulsterman ever to win the BTCC. In 2017, Turkington raced in the BMW 125i M Sport as part of Dick Bennett’s team, one of the most successful combinations in the series history. As of 2017, WSR started to run as Team BMW; this came as huge news and a fantastic statement of intent. Of course, Colin proved consistent, continuing to win titles and many podiums in the years since.
Colin’s cool temperament and polished manners allow him to be gracious both on and off the track and an absolute pleasure to work with.
