Like lots of retail companies during the Covid 19 Pandemic, the trading conditions for Wilson’s Menswear were difficult. It was during this period of lockdown that Wilson’s approached Cornell to explore the possibility of taking their highly popular bricks and mortar store online.
We had previously designed a “shop-window” website for Wilson’s so we already had a good understanding of their product offering – brands such as Tommy Hilfiger, Helly Hansen, Herbie Frog, Eden Park and Ben Sherman to name a few. We also knew they had a very loyal clientele and that their gift cards were highly popular for ex-pats as far away as Australia wishing to treat loved ones back home.
Getting Wilson’s E-commerce offering online in a timely manner was key to the success of the project. With the shop closed and stock to sell it was important to get the website online as quickly as we could. With this in mind, we decided on Shopify as the chosen platform. Shopify would also offer an easy-to-manage Content Management System which was an important part of the brief. This would allow Wilson’s staff to update and manage the website with ease, utilising all the “out of the box” elements that Shopify had to offer.
